The Committee for Green Streets, a joint project of the Pound Ridge Business Association and the Pound Ridge Partnership, will be hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 7pm-8pm at the Pound Ridge Library. According to Ruth Mendes, member of the Green Streets Committee and Pound Ridge Business Association Board Member and Terri Pike, member of the Green Streets Committee and Pound Ridge Partnership Board Member, “The purpose of the meeting is to share with the Pound Ridge community our progress developing plans for upgrading the streetlights in the Scotts Corners Business District to ones that are more energy efficient and will better enhance the aesthetics of our town.”
“This all-volunteer committee has been working hard over the past several months researching the infrastructure and meeting with architects capable of creating a design that will be “green” and visually improving the look and feel of our downtown area,” explains Fred Albano, Committee Member and Board Member of the Pound Ridge Business Association.
“Through a competitive bidding process, the proposal of award-winning local firm Louis Fusco Landscape Architects was unanimously selected by the committee to design the first phase of the work,” according to James Best, a local architect representing the Pound Ridge Partnership on the Green Streets Committee.
“The proposal includes services generously donated by Louis Fusco,” added Susan Grissom, another Green Streets Committee Member and Pound Ridge Partnership Board Member.
“Members of the Green Streets Committee along with Louis Fusco will be on hand to share his preliminary designs and answer questions” Ali Boak, member of the Green Streets Committee and Pound Ridge Partnership Board Member.
“More efficient street lighting technologies save energy, reduce green house gas emissions, cost less to operate and maintain, have a longer life and provide better visibility, lighting more evenly with natural color rendition” says Wendy Cummings, Green Streets Committee member representing the Pound Ridge Business Association.
“We will also be sharing our plans for the Adopt-A-Streetlight Program,” according to Margaret Metel owner of Maggie May’s Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream and Board Member of the Pound Ridge Business Association. “This is a special program we are creating whereby local businesses, groups, families, and individuals can adopt a streetlight acknowledged by an engraved plaque to be affixed to the street light”.
