Past Projects

Take a look at some of the past projects that the Partnership has initiated and supported!

Memorial Walk

For the Memorial Walk project, the Partnership transformed an unkempt space between buildings in the Business District into a brick pathway surrounded by trees, flowering bushes, and a native plant butterfly garden. Today, it has become a lush greenspace in the middle of Town. Over the years, decorative rocks have been added as well as bronze plaques in memory of special members of Pound Ridge who have passed. There had also been an eyesore of bare slopes and an unfinished pathway from Westchester Avenue to the parking lot behind the buildings. The Partnership worked with the property owners, a local architect, and community volunteers to revitalize the area. The Partnership funded the original plantings and mulch and continues to do so each Pound Ridge Proud Day.

Amphitheater Seating

The idea for the Amphitheater Seating project was initially conceived by members of the Partnership’s Harvest Festival Committee. In its early years, Harvest Festival was held in the Scotts Corners business district and later moved to the Town Park. The Amphitheater enhanced the viewing experience for the Festival and other events held at the Town Park by creating terraced seating at the main baseball diamond. This improvement is now enjoyed by the many residents who use the Town Park as a hub of community activity throughout the year, from Little League baseball and summer camp to 4th of July fireworks and the Harvest Festival.

The design services for the Amphitheater, generously donated by Louis Fusco Landscape Architects, incorporated natural stone to seamlessly integrate seating into the hillside facing the baseball fields. The space spans a leveled grass area suitable for picnic blankets or chairs and a stone wall for additional seating. Keeping all members of the community in mind, handicap accessibility was incorporated into the design. In line with the Pound Ridge Partnership’s collaborative and community-driven mission, the development of the project was done in cooperation with the Pound Ridge Recreation Department and Pound Ridge Recreation Commission. After careful consideration and a bidding process, the project was contracted out to Alfredo LDC and completed in time for Spring 2019 baseball season.

An Eco-Chic Evening

An Eco-Chic Evening was a fundraiser for green initiatives in Pound Ridge. Chaired and produced by Tami McCarthy of KAHLO COLLECTIVE, the evening under the stars was held at the Pound Ridge Nursery with cocktails, a farm-to-table dinner, an eco-fashion runway show, and dancing. The professionally-produced runway show highlighted sustainable brands that are kind to the planet and people, and available locally.

The collaborative experience included our surrounding communities of Bedford and Katonah and took place “pond-side” at the Pound Ridge Nursery, where guests mingled amongst the verdant views—the perfect backdrop for the “earth-conscious” soiree. The “Sustainability Lounge” featured an interactive showcase of conscious brands and experiences, with a portion of those proceeds going to funds being raised for the event.

Support from this event went to creating a greener world, specifically in the Pound Ridge Business District. Included among the eco-conscious completed projects are a dual port EV charging station as well as multiple trash recycling bins.

Local teen, Harrison Mazlish, creates fundraiser to support LOCAL business

Local businesses are the heart and soul of our community. Small businesses that depend on foot traffic to survive faced unprecedented challenges resulting from the pandemic, the ensuing social distancing, and government mandated shutdowns. Many businesses had their operations halted or significantly curtailed so we decided to help.

Over the summer of 2020, the Partnership showed two free movies at The Market at Pound Ridge Square, with the goal of bringing more traffic into the business district. Harrison Mazlish, at the time a rising junior at Fox Lane High School, came up with an innovative idea for a music fundraiser. He created a music video featuring local musicians that was shown on the movie nights with the hope of raising money to support our challenged shops and restaurants.

The Partnership also developed a program to assist challenged businesses with getting access to emergency government funding. The initial phase consisted of a collaboration with Bender & Associates, a local certified public accounting and financial planning firm. Steve Bender conducted two virtual town hall meetings for Pound Ridge small business owners on the CARES Act, offering insight into questions and concerns. Additionally, for qualifying small businesses, the Partnership funded a free one-on-one consultation with Steve, who helped businesses identify which programs they were eligible for, provided assistance with filling out applications, and answered questions relevant to each business.
