Green Streets Streetlights

Join Us in Making Pound Ridge Greener and our Future Brighter

In September 2012, the Pound Ridge Partnership and the Pound Ridge Business Association teamed up to form the Pound Ridge Committee for Green Streets for the purpose of planning and implementing the Pound Ridge Green Streets Streetlight Project.

The overall goals of this project were four-fold:

  • Reduce the impact that lighting in the Scotts Corners Business District has on the environment and night skies by utilizing energy efficient technology.
  • Improve public safety for motorists and pedestrians as part of a comprehensive traffic calming program.
  • Beautify the Scotts Corners Business District for the benefit of residents, business owners, property owners, and visitors.
  • Contribute to an overall plan for economic revitalization.

The plan was also to bring visual improvements to Westchester Avenue by providing a sense of uniformity and cohesiveness and hanging flower baskets, flagpole holders, flags, and banners, all to enhance community pride.

There were 5 phases outlined by the committee:

  1. Replace the existing lights along one side of Westchester Avenue.
  2. Install lights along the other side of Westchester Avenue.
  3. Install lights along Westchester Avenue from Trinity Pass to the Market.
  4. Replace the lights in the Parking Lots
  5. Light the Bike/Walking Path to the Town Park.

Phases 1 and 2 of the Green Streets Streetlight Project were absorbed by the Town’s Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP). The Pound Ridge Partnership’s Green Streets Committee moved on and completed Phase 3 and 4. Phase 5 is being planned at this time.
