America in Bloom (AIB) is a national organization devoted to the beautification, vitality, and development of communities. Their main areas of focus are: community vitality and volunteerism, flowers, landscaped areas, urban forestry, environmental efforts, celebrating heritage, and overall impression. Engaging with America in Bloom provides an opportunity to set goals as well as reflect on the community’s accomplishments by spotlighting the contributions of many Town agencies and local organizations affiliated with the town. (Outreach to organizational leaders is underway.)

The two-day visit typically includes walking & driving tours through residential areas and the business district with stops at significant sites ranging from the town park, cemeteries, library, museum and even the recycling center.  Planning the itinerary includes transportation, housing,  meals, and possibly a reception. Preparations also include a lengthy written description of the community to be given to the team.

To participate in the January 25 meeting at 7:00 pm, register with the Pound Ridge Library through their calendar of events, by telephone (914-764-5085) or click here. Future Growing Pound Ridge meetings will focus on the format of the two-day itinerary.
