Pound Ridge Proud Days
In the spring of 2012, the Pound Ridge Partnership launched Pound Ridge Proud Days, an initiative to show town pride every June. Based on the themes of beautification, education and community, Proud Days now begins on Saturday with the Pound Ridge Color Run–a 5K Road Race and Fun Run–hosted in collaboration with the Pound Ridge Human Rights Advisory Committee to celebrate Pride Month and the festival of Holi. It’s then followed by a Bake-Off Challenge on the Green in Scotts Corners. On Sunday, Beautification volunteers come together to weed, mulch, plant, and clean up the Business District. Beautification efforts have extended to other parts of the community as well, from painting the Library fence to weeding and planting an outdoor classroom at Pound Ridge Elementary School. It’s a fun weekend of bonding and volunteering with neighbors to enhance the town we all love.
The goals of these annual events are to:
- Increase civic pride and beautification efforts
- Provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for residents
- Increase collaboration among community groups
- Support and promote businesses by drawing people into town
- Promote inclusivity by bringing together residents of all ages and backgrounds
