Sustainability

Our Commitment

Pound Ridge is distinguished by its natural beauty, local character and strong sense of community. At the Pound Ridge Partnership, our vision of a thriving, vibrant, inclusive business district is inseparable from our responsibility to the environment and our community’s long-term resilience. In keeping with our mission to bring everyone together to support and improve our business district, we believe sustainability is at the heart of what we do.

Our Actions

Here’s how the Partnership is putting sustainability into action:

  • Beautifying Public Spaces: Planting pollinator-friendly species, improving walkways, and revitalizing pocket parks and public spaces in ways that support native ecology and community use, through Pound Ridge Proud Day beautification and Growing Pound Ridge efforts.
  • Energy-Efficient Street Lighting: In collaboration with the Pound Ridge Business Association we launched the “Green Streets Streetlights” project, recognizing that better lighting can reduce energy consumption and improve safety and ambience.
  • Supporting Clean Transportation: Partially funding the installation of the town’s first electric vehicle charging station.
  • Reducing Single-Use Plastic: Installing a water refill station at the town park
  • Enhancing Local Trails: Expanding access and sustainability through the Athletic Brewing Two for the Trails grant.
  • Hosting Low-Waste Community Events: Promoting sustainability and helping educate residents with events like An Eco-Chic Evening and An Eco Afternoon, and by reducing the use of single-use plastics and working with our vendors to provide compostable or reusable serving ware while highlighting composting and recycling at signature events like Food Truck Fridays and Harvest Festival.
