Pennies for Posies

A Growing Pound Ridge Collaboration

Pennies for Posies launched as a collaboration between the Pound Ridge Partnership and Growing Pound Ridge. The two groups joined forces to fulfill a dream initially identified at the Partnership’s first Pound Ridge Proud Day event in 2010 and jointly adopted it as a priority. The goal was to install hanging baskets and create landscaping in areas near the newly installed streetlights in the Business District. The coin campaign, Pennies for Posies, began in January 2021 in the Business District and kicked off the group’s fundraising efforts, concluding with a Coin Toss Carnival in May.

The funds raised were used to offset the cost of materials, plants, and the installation and seasonal care of these plants. The Pound Ridge Nursery supported our sponsorship drive with a generous pledge that underwrote the purchase of the hanging baskets and flowers, allowing us to stretch the value of the fundraising dollars significantly. “The hanging flower baskets have become symbolic of that ‘working together’ for the sweet little town we all love,” said Terri Pike, Vice President of the Pound Ridge Partnership. “I hear people say that Pound Ridge has never looked better.”
